Title: Tool Chain Analysis Method

Abstract:

This tutorial presents the tool chain analysis method that can be used to analyze tool chains according to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, DO-330. The analysis is based on a systematic identification of the potential errors in the tools and determines the qualification needs through the calculation of TCLs in ISO 26262. If a tool chain consisting of several tools is analyzed the tools can detect each others errors and thus reduce the qualification needs compared with a standalone analysis of each tool. Within the tutorial we present a model-based approach that allows to model a development process using tools, use cases, features, artifacts, potential errors and error mitigations. From this model the qualification need can be computed and documents can be generated. We also present the freely available Tool Chain Analyzer tool that can be used for that purpose.
